Manjar en Vietnam....////Goddies in Vietnam.....

Anyone feel like duck embryo for dinner? While drinking at a hostel we were invited to try this local delicacy. Eider went for the feathered wing, while I dug into the stomach; it wasn't a pleasant experience. As Eider says above, the Vietnamese absolutely crave these little snacks and eat them like the Spanish getting stuck into a plate of fired prawns. I don't think this fad will take off in Australia.

Uuurgh. I can only shudder, and marvel that you were game enough to try it. As a student at uni, I had Aussie friends who had travelled in the Phillipines and Filipino friends living in Melbourne who talked of the Filipino version – balut, I think it's called. Reactions were pretty much divided along Aussie - Filipino lines. Privately, I gagged then. I'm gagging now. Pretty amazing camera close-up.
